The Western Bluebird is alive and well in the American River
Parkway. Inhabiting a hole high in a dead cottonwood tree this
pair dutifully spend their day collecting insects and berries for their
young. They share their tree with a pair of tree swallows and the
ever-present house finch.

On day 8 of my observation the male brought a moth and
delivered it to the grass at my feet, quite a gesture.
